Gianluca Lia Date:  19th May 2015Time:  20:00Venue:  Centenary Stadium The final encounter between champions Hibernians and Raiders (Luxol) will be the women’s football showdown for the 2014/2015 season as they will be contesting the Women’s Knock-Out Cup Final.  Hibernians will be striving towards a domestic treble by winning the Knock Out after an absence of 8 seasons while Raiders want to engrave down their name under the winners’ list for the first time ever.  Throughout their journey towards the final, the Paolites scored 7 while conceding 2, both in their previous encounter with Birkirkara in a thrilling semi-final won after a penalty shoot-out.  On the other hand, Raiders scored 25 goals while conceding 1 eliminating Hamrun Spartans, Kirkop United and Sliema Wanderers in the process.  Hibernians won all 3 league’s encounters against Raiders, beating them 3-0 in the 1st round while in the 2nd round they had the better in both 1-0 and 4-1 wins.  Hibernians are the natural favourites to win the ultimate prize but when stakes are high, football can be more than unpredictable. From Hibernians: Asked about his girls’ preparation prior to this highly-anticipated match, coach Keith Gouder said that the girls resumed training as scheduled after their dramatic win against Birkirkara and they are still focused.  ‘’In the semi-finals, our girls showed character where although we were a goal down in the dying minutes of the game, they did not lack in concentration and their belief led them to equalize the match.  That match defined our strong character’’.  Moreover he added that he is expecting a tough challenge from their opponents but he is confident that his girls can triumph in this cup and make it a memorable season for the Paolites. From Raiders (Luxol):Coach Jose Borg underlined the fact that this team was formed only 8 months ago and therefore he cannot not be satisfied of his girls’ achievements this season, placing 3rd in the league behind Hibernians and Birkirkara while enjoying a cup run which will see them contesting the final against the Paolites.  ‘’I would be lying If I say I do not want to win but all that I want from my girls is to give their all and enjoy playing this cup final.  For some of our components it is their first time playing in a final and while everyone is already seeing Hibernians as the winners, we are more than prepared to reverse that statement’’.
