Local clubs Vallettai, Hibernians, B'kara and Floriana were amongst a number of European teams to discover their opponents, when the draws for the 1st Preliminary Rounds for the Champions League and the Europa League were yesterday made in Nyon.
In the Champions League, Valletta will face Andorran side FC Lusitans, with the first leg being played at home on the 4th July. Should the local champions make it to Round 2 they will then face though opposition in FK Partizan Belgrade. In the Europa League, U*BET FA Trophy winners Hibernians were drawn to play FK Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Floriana will travel to Sweden to Face IF Elfsborg, while B'Kara will play Macedonian side FK Metalurg Skopje. While Hibs and Floriana will play their first leg away from home, B'kara will first host their opponents. The two legs of the first qualifying round for the Europa League will be played on 5th and 12th July.
