Gianluca Lia Following the short break, women’s football will return in action once again with a mouth-watering clash from the BOV Women’s 2nd Division between two promotion contenders, Swieqi United and Hamrun Spartans. With leaders Gozo opening an eight-point lead over Swieqi and nine-point lead over Hamrun following their 3-0 win over Mosta, tonight’s match is crucial for both teams if they want to keep their hopes alive for a promotion spot. A Krista Montfort’s strike had settled the score in favour of Swieqi United in their first round encounter.   Jochen Lenders (Swieqi United, coach): ‘’We will be looking to start 2016 on a high as we keep on aiming for promotion. Our girls are excited and impatient to get back on the pitch for a competitive game, and we are looking forward to play Hamrun as our games with them are always tight.’’ Joe Carbonaro (Hamrun Spartans, coach): ‘’When I had given my league preview, I had underlined the fact that this season would be more combative and that we together with Gozo, Swieqi United and Sliema Wanderers would have been challenging for the title. My players are aware of tomorrow match’s importance and we need to cancel the first round’s loss from our minds. We have prepared intensely for this match and hopefully our players can put up another important display. In the meantime, I hope that the match will be played in a sportive atmosphere no matter what will be the final result.’’
