Dorianne Theuma's side lost their second commitment from the UEFA Women's Under 16's Development tournament when they were beaten 0-1 by a fine Azerbaijan side. The girls will be hoping to make up to this loss immediately next Tuesday, when they will encounter Austria in their final fixture.  The first half was fairly balanced with both teams struggling to create goal scoring opportunities. Malta had a good opportunity through Maria Farrugia who after some wonderful footwork, tried an effort but could not direct the ball on goal. Azerbaijan started strongly the second half, and they immediately had a goal scoring opportunity through a freekick, but Malta's back line deflected into corner. From the consequent corner, Azerbaijan broke the deadlock when Gasinova prevailed from a confusion in the box to put Azerbaijan ahead. Malta's reaction was not enough to equalise the match with the away side capable of preserving their fundamental lead until the final whistle. Malta's starting XI:Patricia Ebejer (GK); Kimberley Borg, Chloe Ann Ellul, Leanne Cefai (C), Nicole Sciberras, Celeste Grech, Samantha Zarb, Maia Debono, Sarah Urpani, Michaela Felice, Maria Farrugia. Coach: Ms.Dorianne Theuma.
