Hope Patricia Powell a former England Women National team player and coach has visited the MFA Technical Centre yesterday and addressed participants in the UEFA B course being held at present by the MFA Coach Education Department. Ms Powell is in Malta as UEFA Technical Observer for the UEFA Girls U/16 Development Tournament being held locally during the last six days.
In her address Ms. Powell emphasised the need for coaches to start their coaching in the Grassroots to gain enough experience to move to Youth Football and Senior levels. She shared her experiences both as a player and as a coach with all the participants answering for various questions put by the floor. The session was a very interesting one and all those present gained some insight as to the way forward in women’s football coaching. Ms. Powell is considered as being the first Female in the world to achieve the UEFA Pro licence – the highest UEFA Coaching qualification available.’
