Women's Football: Malta 1 vs Israel 1

 Malta Women's National Team initiated their Aphrodite Cup's commitments with a 1-1 draw against 59th FIFA ranked, Israel Women's National Team. The Maltese girls performed at their best against a team who is currently also participating in the UEFA Women's Euro 2017 Qualifications. After a fairly balanced first half ended at 0-0, Malta forged ahead earlier in the second half through Martina Borg and they could easily double their lead but Borg's effort was well parried by Israel's goalkeeper. Israel equalized late in the match to deny the Maltese the first three points of the tournament.
