FOOTBALL, TRADITION & FUN DOMINATE THE SECOND MCDONALDS FOOTBALLPLUS FESTIVAL

The second in the series of The McDONALDS FOOTBALLPLUS For Kids Festivals was held at the Żebbuġ Football Ground. on Sunday 20th March 2016.  Football, Tradition and Fun is what hosts Żebbuġ Rangers Youth Nursery set up for more than 160 young footballers from the football nurseries of Attard, Fgura Utd, Ghaxaq, Msida S.J. Mtarfa, San Ġwann, Sirens and Żebbuġ Rangers The McDonalds FOOTBALLPLUS For Kids is one of MFA’s Grassroots Programmes, which form part of MFA’s Strategy for Growth & Retention in local football participation, and is an educational football programme targeting:Growth & Retention among the younger generations;The further promotion of the local game;Improve the image of the game, and;The development of better football players.  This month’s festival not only presented the children with an opportunity to enjoy playing football, but also focused on Tradition and Fun. With the day’s programme including cultural tours to specific sites at the hosting locality, related to traditions tied with the upcoming Holy Week festivities and the game of ‘Boċċi’. Fun Games, Football health and safety tips, as well as tips for parents regarding football ethics also formed part of the day’s activities. The  local Youth Football Association is co-ordinating the organisation of the football festivals while McDonalds are the sponsors of the programme. This year’s FootballPlus For Kids programme also incorporates McDonald’s own Player Escort Campaign for the EURO 2016 Finals, which will take place in France later this year. Applications are open for boys and girls aged 6 to 10 years and closing date for applications is the 18th April 2016.
