WINNERS OF THE MCDONALDS PLAYER ESCORT CAMPAIGN ANNOUNCED DURING THE FOOTBALLPLUS FOR KIDS STREET FOOTBALL ACTIVITY

Robert Schembri and Karl Galea are the lucky winners of the EURO 2016 McDonald’s Player Escort Campaign from amongst hundreds of other applicants.  The draw was made on Saturday following the MCDONALDS FOOTBALLPLUS FOR KIDS Street Football activity held at Lija village core. Robert will experience his participation in the EURO 2016 Final Match which will take place in Paris, while Karl will act as Player Escort in the Semi Final Match from the same competition, in Lyon. Both matches will be played in July. Mr. Lee Warren (General Manager – Premier Restaurants Malta Ltd), assisted by Ms. Cynthia Caruana (Marketing Manager for McDonald’s Malta),  made the draws. No less than seventy five other boys and girls who were shortlisted from amongst all applicants have also won the right to participate as player escorts in upcoming important international matches which will be held locally. These being the international friendly match between Italy and Scotland (29th May 2016) and the two 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualification Matches, Malta vs Scotland (4th September 2016) and Malta vs Slovenia (11th November 2016) The STREET FOOTBALL activity was held at Lija Center on Saturday 30th April 2016, and involved a joint effort between the Malta Football Association, the Youth Football Association and McDonalds in collaboration with Lija Athletic F.C, Lija/Iklin Football Nursery and the Lija Local Council. The McDonalds FOOTBALLPLUS For Kids is one of the MFA’s Grassroots Programmes, which formspart of MFA’s Strategy for Growth & Retention in local football participation, and was laid out as a result of the outcomes from our association’s participation in a UEFA Pilot Project amongst six chosen European National Football Associations, to offer marketing support to these NAs, with the ultimate aim for these associations to: Improve the image of football across Europe;Grow participation;Grow Fan Engagement;Grow and optimise revenues from second inventory, and;Strandardise measurement. The next MCDONALDS FOOTBALLPLUS FOR KIDS Festival will be held on Sunday 15th May at M’Xlokk Football Ground.
