Hibernians, the Knock-Out holders, take on Raiders (Luxol) this evening as the cup quarter-finals take centre-stage this week. Facing an uphill task to defend their league title, the Paolites will be going all out to retain the Knock-Out honour for the third year running.  Hibernians meet Raiders (Luxol) in their quarter-final tonight with both teams making their first appearance in the competition. (today, 20.15, @ Charles Abela Stadium – Mosta) Birkirkara launch their bid for KO success with a match against Division Two side Mosta tomorrow (Wednesday) night. The Stripes, who last won the KO competition in 2014, are eyeing a league and cup double as they have a 10-point lead at the top of the Division One standings. On the other hand, Mosta, who are pushing for promotion, will view this fixture as a test to assess their potential against a top tier side while looking to cause an upset. The Blues had the better of Tarxien Rainbows 2-0 in the first round. (Wednesday 20.15, @ Mġarr Ground) Swieqi United and Kirkop United cross swords in one of the most intriguing quarter-final clashes. While the Oranges are on the verge of clinching promotion to the top tier, Kirkop are enjoying one of their best seasons among the elite of women's football in Malta. Both teams met in the play-off last season, the Reds salvaging their Division One status after a 1-0 win over Swieqi. The latter made it through to the second round of the KO after beating Gozo 5-3. (today 18.00, @ Mġarr Ground) The other quarter-final on the card is between Division One side Mġarr United and Division Two club Hamrun Spartans. Mġarr start as favourites to prolong their cup run while the Spartans will be looking to produce a susprise after beating Kirkop B in the first round. (today 20.15, @ Mġarr Ground).
