Kalkara added gloss to their BOV Division Three championship celebrations after thrashing Żurrieq 7-1 in their last league match at the Sirens Stadium on Saturday. The Greens of the south thus ended a memorable season with an unbeaten record, winning 19 games and drawing the remaining five. Experienced defender Julian Briffa gave Kalkara an early lead after just three minutes but Bjorn Chetcuti equalised soon after for Żurrieq. Ryan Sell’s goal nine minutes from half-time made it 2-1 for Kalkara who dominated their opponents in the second half, scoring five more times thanks to a hat-trick from Timothy Thomas and substitute Christopher Cuschieri, who scored a brace. Kalkara finished nine points ahead of Luqa St Andrews who ended their commitments with a 3-0 win over Dingli Swallows. Sta Lucia, in third place, have also been promoted to Division Two. At the end of the match, Matthew Paris, the Malta FA Vice-President, presented the winners’ trophy to Thomas, the captain of Kalkara.  LAST-DAY RESULTSMdina Knights vs Msida St Joseph 1-3Mtarfa vs Xgħajra Tornadoes 3-2Luqa St Andrews vs Dingli Swallows 3-0Kalkara vs Żurrieq 7-1Marsaskala vs Kirkop United 1-4Ta’ Xbiex vs Sta Venera Lightnings 2-4
