Birkirkara playmaker Srdjan Dimitrov concluded the 2016/2017 BOV football season by winning the BOV player of the month award for the months of April and May. Dimitrov collected a total of 195.56 points for his performances to finish ahead of Hibernians ace Gilmar Ribeiro on 134.44 points and Ivan Paz of St Andrews in third place with 132.04 points. The 24-year-old Serbian stole the limelight in Birkirkara’s 3-3 draw against Valletta as he set up all of his team’s goals. He delivered the cross for Nikola Vukanac who scored Birkirkara’s first goal, set up Christian Bubalovic for the second and earned a penalty which was converted by Edward Herrera. Dimitrov also scored Birkirkara’s last goal in their 3-0 win over Mosta with a neat lob over Yenz Cini while opening the scoring in their 3-1 win over Balzan with a curling drive. This was certainly a season to remember for Dimitrov, who apart from these two awards, had also won the BOV monthly prize for August 2016 and January 2017.
