The Malta Under-17 team suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Croatian side HNK Rijeka in their second Group D match at the Trofeo Nereo Rocco tournament, being played in Trieste, Italy.
On Tuesday, the Maltese youngsters, led by coach Silvio Vella and his assistant Ronald Vella, drew 1-1 with Venezia in their opening match. Vella started with the following formation against HNK Rijeka: Amara Sylla, Liam McKay, Ethan Lethridge, Matthew Portelli, Christian Gauci, Jake Ghio, Clyde Bouvet, Shaun Dimech, Alexander Satariano, Jamie Sixsmith, Sheldon Pisani. The Malta U-17 team face Torino in their third and final Group D match on Thursday at 18.00. Torino went down 1-0 to HNK Rijeka in their opener on Tuesday.
