HIBERNIANS 3MOSTA           0 Champions Hibernians bounced back from their 3-2 defeat to Gżira United after seeing off the challenge of Mosta 3-0 in Friday’s match at the Centenary Stadium.  The early exchanges were balanced. Captain Clayton Failla tried his luck from a free-kick in the ninth minute but his effort sailed high. Mosta went close to opening the scoring when Thomas Veronese passed to Edison Zarate whose angled shot was deflected away for corner by goalkeeper Andrew Hogg. Hibernians broke the deadlock when they were awarded a penalty on the 23rd minute after a foul on Jorge Dos Santos. Failla made no mistake to fire Hibernians ahead. There was a scare for the Paolites in the 32nd minute when a long pass from defence reached Leonardo Ferreirs but his header was saved by Hogg. Hibernians nearly made it 2-0 when a cross by Failla from the left was met by Jurgen Degabriele but his header finished just over. Eight minutes into the second half, Mosta captain Kurt Magro had a central drive blocked by Hogg. Zarate also went close for Mosta as his shot from outside the box was diverted wide. Hibernians doubled their lead and all but made sure of the three points on 76th minute with a direct freekick by Marco Sahanek. Substitute Dunstan Vella sealed Hibs 3-0 win with a stunning goal two minutes from time. To make matters worse for Mosta, defender Tyrone Farrugia was sent off for two bookings in stoppage time.
