Champions Valletta extended their winning run after beating Birkirkara 5-1 as the 2018-19 Malta FA Futsal League resumed following the international break.

The supporters of the two teams, who met a few a days earlier in the BOV Premier League, created a vibrant atmosphere during this match at the Corradino Sports Pavillion.

Malta international Andrè Ciancio made his debut for Valletta following his January move from Swieqi United. Ciancio had a positive outing.

The Whites had Camilo Andre Vanegas Gomez scoring a hat-trick while Jovica Milijic and Gia Nikvashvilli got the other goals to give Valletta a psychological boost ahead of their eagerly-awaited clash with title rivals Luxol this coming Friday.

Glenn Bonello scored the Stripes’ solitary goal.

Luxol St Andrews also stayed on the winning trail, beating Swieqi United 8-3.

Celino Alves and Giancarlo Sammut scored a brace apiece for Luxol with the other goals coming from Matthew Attard, Maicon Silva, Zvezdan Vukovic and captain Mark Zammit, a day before his birthday.

Shawn Deguara, formerly of Valletta, Leonardo De Souza and Leo Muscat were on target for Swieqi United.

Tarxien Rainbows acquired three points in the Elite Futsal Round after winning 7-4 against the University of Malta Students Futsal Team.

In the other division, Luxol U-19 moved three points clear of UM Futsal Academy after beating them 7-1.
