Malta's Under 17 side under the guidance of Coach Sergio Soldano started their commitments in the 34th Hungarian International Tournament with a narrow 1-0 defeat against Serbia. Malta were the best side for most of the match, especially in the first half with Aidan Friggieri missing a very good opportunity. In the opening minutes of the second half. Aidan Friggieri, who always looked as the busiest player on the field, created another very good chance for Zach Brincat who was a bit late in front of an open goal with the ball finishing wide after a good cross from right. Minutes later came Serbia's first shot at goal. A shot which was dangerously deflected by defender Nicholas Pulis but Timmy Aquilina saved in style. Malta kept the upperhand  but Serbia scored what was to be the winning goal on the counter attack, 7 minutes from time. M. Sbrijanac was the scorer. A draw would have been definitely a much fairer result, to say the least  Malta lined up as follows; T. Aquilina, N. Pulis, C. Zammit, N. Ghio, M. Guillaumier, J. Borg, A. Friggieri, D. Xuereb, Z. Brincat, K. Xuereb, M. Sansone.  -  R. Fenech rep M. Sansone (56 mins), B. Caruana rep Z. Brincat (62mins) and j. Vella rep M. Guillaumier (78mins)
