The Malta Football Association always seeks to operate in line with values expounded by UEFA and FIFA which promote all that is regarded as essential in propagating the game in accordance with noble principles.  Respect is a byeword which is freely splashed in all football stadia around the globe. In a turbulant world where this quality is very often trodden upon or completely disregarded, such an ideal is essential to bring together all the stakeholders of the game, including the millions of spectators. Respect to opponents, officials in charge of the game, administrators and supporters of opposing teams will ensure stability in the context of fair play, complete absence of racism and abusive behaviour of all kind. Indeed, this value is uppermost in UEFA’s and FIFA’s principles for a healthy environment wherever the game is played.   In a wider sense, Respect also pre-supposes solidarity with those mostly in material and moral need. Football is also a tool which can promote the well-being of the unfortunate section of society. Our association is in sync with this idea of social responsibility. Recently a praiseworthy initiative has been undertaken in this regard whereby members of several strata of society will be the beneficiaries of the MFA under the Football Social Responsibility (FSR) scheme. A special committee within the MFA under the chairmanshp of President Emeritus, Dr Ġorġ Abela, will channel funds collected by the association through increased admission prices of the BOV Premier League and FA Trophy matches, besides other sources, towards the Community Chest Fund. Puttinu Cares and other philantropic organisations. The MFA itself will also contribute towards this fund. The initiative has gained the wholehearted support of the President of the Republic, Her Excellency Marie Louise Coleiro. In this way the Malta Football Association is sounding the clarion call to other entities towards contributing to a noble cause.
