A successful Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) campaign called ‘Football People’, was held by the Malta Football Association last Sunday 19th October at the very well-attended Premier League matches, Pieta – Balzan and Valletta – Birkirkara.

Players and officials lined-up wearing anti-discrimination T-Shirts whilst the announcer explained that this activity was being held to help raise awareness that there is no place for racial and other forms of discrimination in football and that universal tolerance must be maintained in order to enhance the noble principles of mankind. The players followed by tossing the campaign t-shirts to the vibrant supporters.

The ‘Football People’ event is meant to increase public awareness of discrimination in football, create a united front by bringing together all the stakeholders in the game and develop new ideas and new practices that challenge exclusion.

These are common stands in Europe which UEFA also advocates in its efforts to eradicate racism and any form of discrimination and the Malta Football Association is certainly proud to do its part.
