The Malta Football Association believes in social solidarity and wellness in all spheres of life. Problems afflicting today’s society are tackled by various entities and organisations. The association believes that the game can be a formidable medium through which people on the periphery of society as a result of medical and poor social conditions can come together in a spirit of solidarity and in so doing ease their problems. Inspire is a support group which is doing great work in this respect and the Maltese association is in the forefront in collaborating with this entity to make the world a better place to live in. Recently, a group of Maltese national team players met children from the Inspire Group in an activity which served as a noble gesture to encourage and support the younger generation who unfortunately need special care.  Mission-driven groups like Inspire are truly supporting such initiatives. Malta Captain Michael Mifsud addressed the gathering, saying that it was a privilege for the players to show solidarity with these special children. ‘For us this is a small gesture where we can try and give something back to the younger generation. It is really a pleasure to show these sentiments and together as players we would like to give the youngsters a signed T-shirt which will be a memento of this occasion.’ Chief Executive of Inspire, Antonello Gauci, said that the group was very happy to be part of this experience. ‘We hope that in future we will continue collaborating with the Malta Football Association. We also appreciate the efforts of the national team players and we want to thank them for their initiative.’ Adelaide Silva, an Inspire official, echoed the sentiments of the CE, while thanking everyone including the parents and the programme tutors. Mr Gauci was then presented with a photographic memento while the players then distributed a photo and a football to each boy and girl present for the matches Malta played against Norway and Italy. It was truly an occasion where football as a medium to support wellness initiatives was given due recognition.
