Under 17's: Cuneo 0 vs Malta 1

A sole goal scored by Kyle Gatt just after 2 minutes in the second half, gave Malta a narrow win against Cuneo, in the first match of the tournament in Pinerolo, Italy.  It was a well played match where the U/17's National Team played their hearts out against a team with older players. Our lads played well with determination to create a number of good chances yet not good enough to forge ahead. In the second half the team played better and went ahead in the second minute through a good choral move finished by Kyle Gatt. After this goal the team started moving better on the pitch and nearly scored a second one fifteen minutes later but Miguel Mifsud missed the chance of a lifetime when he beat all, except the Cunio goalkeeper. The ball continued going up and down and Cuneo nearly drew level 5 minutes from time but Lydon Moore made a fine save to secure our team’s lead. All in all this was a very good effort by our boys who managed to hold on to their lead without losing any merit on their fine performance.
