Gianluca Lia The FIFA Live Your Goals U11 ongoing festival, which is introduced last season by the association under the auspices of FIFA, was a successful initiative with many clubs participating during this festival. It was a positive experience as the interest in the game of female football was underlined by the vast amount of participating girls in this festival, nearly 200 girls with 13 teams.   On Tuesday 22nd September, the participant clubs were given a set of footballs and nets according to the number of teams they participated with during this festival. This presentation was held during the half-time of the Women’s Super Cup played between Hibernians and Birkirkara. The ‘Live Your Goals’ festivals were held fortnightly by the MFA for girls aged between 5 to 11 to widen the area of participation among the younger generation while also improving the youth setup ahead of the upcoming years. Moreover, the girls need inspiration from older players and that is why it is important to conserve well the image of Senior women’s football.   The MFA believes and it is working thoroughly in this project as it is a fundamental step in order to improve the level and the image of this movement. The aim of this presentation was to encourage clubs to attract and work with girls aged between 5 and 11 years old as that is the period in which girls should be introduced to the basic skills of the game. Moreover, the MFA’s vision targets improvement also in the coaching sector in order to have more qualified women’s coach besides young girls at grassroots level. The MFA would like to express their appreciation towards the clubs who cooperated during this festival while showing support to the MFA’s mission of increasing girls at the grassroots levels and looks forward to an increase in participation in this upcoming season.
