BOV Women's 1st Div

On Tuesday night, Sliema Wanderers and Hamrun Spartans will be facing each in a mouth-watering contest which can reignite the race for the play-off spot for the BOV Women’s 1st Division.

Both sides will be chasing an elusive three points particularly since Swieqi United lost last Sunday’s encounter against Gozo, leaving the Oranges only five points above Sliema and six beyond the Spartans. While Sliema have registered a comfortable 4-1 victory over minnows Kirkop United Team B, the Spartans managed to record a prestigious result by acquiring a 1-1 draw against leaders Gozo which maintains their hopes of a play-off spot alive.

Jackie Abdilla (Sliema Wanderers FC):

‘’We as a team are looking forward for this encounter since it is a golden opportunity to reduce the gap within Swieqi United. This league has been a roller coaster and anything can happen until the final matchday. We are performing very well and if we remain united and compact, we can achieve a positive result against the Spartans.’’

Shana Zerafa (Hamrun Spartans FC):

‘’We will be facing Sliema Wanderers for the second time this season. Unfortunately, in the first round we did not achieved a positive result, however we are optimistic ahead of this encounter especially following our 1-1 draw against Gozo last week.’’
