Women's K/O Quarter Finals preview Sliema Wanderers vs Gozo (Tuesday 1st March - 18:00 - Mgarr Ground)Sliema Wanderers and Gozo will be crossing swords in the inaugural match from the Women's  K/O quarter finals which will be played between today and tomorrow. Both sides are coming from two different results in their previous 2nd Division fixtures, with the Wanderers ending on the losing side against Hamrun Spartans in a 4-3 thriller while leaders Gozo have dramatically beaten Swieqi United 3-1. This match promises to be an exciting one as in their previous two meetings of this season, they have produced not less than 12 goals, with the Gozitan side winning both fixtures. Both teams qualified comfortably into this round with Sliema Wanderers beating 5-0 Kirkop United Team B while Gozo eliminated Mosta with the identical result. The qualified team from this quarter final will have a tough task in the semi final as it will be facing the winner between Malta's top two clubs, Birkirkara or Hibernians. Raiders (Luxol) vs Kirkop United (Tuesday 1st March - 20:15 - Mgarr Ground)Two clubs which are involved in a fierce battle to avoid relegation as Kirkop United and Raiders (Luxol) are currently in 4th and 5th place respectively in the domestic league, with only three points separating them. A place in the semi final in the domestic cup would undoubtedly be a milestone for them. Raiders reached this stage last season and eventually going all way to the final before having to surrender to Hibernians's superiority in the final. Already met twice this season, they shared spoils in their first encounter but Raiders emerged as winners in their second fixture. Raiders were given a bye in the previous round while Kirkop United eliminated second Division side Tarxien Rainbows with a 1-0 victory. The winner of this match will be facing either Pembroke Athleta or Mgarr United in the semi final.  Pembroke Athleta vs Mgarr United (Tuesday 1st March - 20:15 - Luxol Stadium)Pembroke Athleta and Mgarr United have faced each other in the BOV Women's 1st Division's previous matchday, with the latter winning the encounter 3-0. Prior to that fixture, Mgarr had also won their previous couple of meetings (4-0 and 3-0) to maintain a 100% record against Pembroke. On the other hand, having already one foot in the 2nd Division, Pembroke will be striving to leave their league's struggles behind them and aim to secure a semi final berth which would hinder their difficult season in the 1st Division. While Mgarr United had an easy task in the previous round as they rout Swieqi United 6-0, Pembroke Athleta saw off Hamrun Spartans with the minimum result of 1-0.  Birkirkara vs Hibernians (Wednesday 2nd March - 20:15 - Charles Abela Stadium)An anticipated final. Malta's top two clubs in women's football will be facing each other in the early stages of the competition once again, but this time in the quarter finals following last year's meeting in the semi finals. With the Paolites edging closer towards another title triumph at the expenses of the Stripes, the latter will be targeting this competition as an important silverware to avoid ending their season trophy-less while also ending Hibernians's dominance, at least in this competition. Meanwhile, Hibernians won all three encounters this season (2-1, 3-0, 3-2) and adding also their victory over Birkirkara in the Super Cup, emerging victoriously in the domestic cup would mean a fifth consecutive success over the Stripes in this season. Both teams were given a bye in the previous round and the qualified team will be meeting either side from the second Division between Sliema Wanderers or Gozo.
