GENERATING ENTHUSIASM FOR OUR NATIONAL TEAMS

Addressing a Press Conference related to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Group 2 qualifying match against Armenia to be played on Friday 7 September 2012 at 20.00 hrs, Malta Football Association Chief Executive Officer, Bjorn Vassallo, told the media present that the association’s intent is to generate more interest and enthusiasm towards our national teams and in so doing bring our representative sides nearer to the public.     Through the work of the MFA and the co-operation of the national teams’ main sponsors FXDD the Platinum Sponsors, Farsons, through its brand product Cisk Lager who are the Gold Sponsors and all the association’s Preferred Commercial Partners, there have been various initiatives and incentives that will eventually gather more momentum for the benefit of all stakeholders, not the least our footballers and members of the public.   Examples of such initiatives are the Goal Card and TV transmissions, besides other incentives, all intended to give the Maltese the opportunity to either be near the national teams at the stadium or to bring them closer to the people’s homes. The MFA CEO also referred to the professional way the association wants to hone its national teams in all technical and professional aspects so that we gain the respect of our opponents. Norman Saliba, MFA Head of Marketing then gave details of ticket prices and seating arrangements for the Malta v Armenia match and announced the Goal Card Prize Winners. Information was also given on online ticket pre-sales for the said match which opened on 28 September, with payments being accepted via a visa, mastercard or cashlink. The MFA Offices at Ta’Qali, Eros Stationer, Paceville, Lion King Stationer, Gwardamangia, Star Tourism Services, Buġibba, and TeamSport, Iklin, are other outlets for ticket pre-sales.
