Division One leaders Birkirkara will be targeting maximum points when they take on bottom-placed Gozo as the Stripes are three wins away from securing their sixth league title.

After beating rivals Hibernians 2-1 last week, the Stripes are now 10 points clear of the Paolites, thus edging closer to dethroning Hibernians and reclaim the status of champions after an absence of three years.

Shawn Meilak’s girls meet Gozo who are sitting in last place. Gozo will be looking to gain something from the match in a bid to challenge Raiders (Luxol) for the play-off spot – (today 18.00, Mġarr Ground).

Defending champions Hibernians face relegation battlers Raiders (Luxol) in today’s second match.

The Paolites’ hopes of defending their title suffered a blow after last week’s defeat to Birkirkara.

Nevertheless, a return to winning ways would give Hibs a boost ahead of their Knock-Out clash with the same Raiders next week.

Raiders are second from bottom in the standings, one point above Gozo, as they aim to salvage their Division One status– (today 20.15, Mġarr Ground).

The other Division One game this week sees Mġarr United take on Kirkop United, the surprise package in this season’s league, in a match which can have a decisive impact on the race for third place.

The Greens currently occupy third place on 23 points, while the Reds are two points behind.

A win for Mġarr would all but seal third place for them but if the three points go to Kirkop, the race would remain wide open – (tomorrow 20.15, Mġarr Ground).

BOV Division Two

In the second tier, Swieqi United are almost certain of automatic promotion after seeing off title challengers Mosta last week to increase their advantage to 11 points.

The Oranges will lock horns with Tarxien Rainbows, currently third with 13 points. This could be the Rainbows’ last chance to challenge for the play-off berth – (today 20.15, Żebbuġ Ground).

Mosta and Kirkop United B meet in the other Division Two game.

Mosta will be aiming for a win while hoping for a Swieqi slip-up against the Rainbows in order to revive their hopes of gaining automatic promotion.

For Kirkop B, they will be hoping to add to their four-point tally – (today 20.15, Charles Abela Stadium – Mosta).
