As has been the practice for the last years, the MFA has once again invited all sections of the media, the sponsors and others involved in the game, including the policeman, at its annual reception held during the yuletude period.  The Grand Excelsior Hotel in Floriana was the venue of this social gathering on the 10th January which had the MFA president and officials hosting their strategic partners in a pleasant atmosphere.  In an address for the occasion the association’s top man, Norman Darmanin Demajo referred to the mutual co-operation and assistance between the MFA and the media, that relating to the association and the sponsors as well as the sterling work undertaken by the guardians of law and order in and around our stadia. ‘We all need one another’, he said.  Towards the end of his address the association’s president advised the members of the media to be very cautious and discreet when commenting on the recent match-fixing probe involving the Euro 2012 qualifier played in Oslo in June 2007 between Norway and Malta. Darmanin Demajo stressed that there should be no speculation by the media, despite some eagerness for journalistic scoops as well as inquisitiveness since these could be an obstacle to ongoing investigations.       Concluding, he said that everyone wants to see this case solved and if there are culprits adequate punishment is meted out to whoever was involved.  Photos: Copyright Joe Borg
