Malta registered a minor improvement in this month's FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking after moving up one place to 182nd. Our national team are ranked above fellow minnows Liechtenstein (184), Andorra (200), San Marino (203) and Gibraltar (205), albeit the latter have no points. The likes of Luxembourg (135), Moldova (162), Kosovo (164) and Macedonia (166) are above Malta in the FIFA classification. Malta will resume their 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign on March 26 when they host Slovakia at the National Stadium. Pietro Ghedin, the Malta coach, has called on his players to try and gain their first point in Group F when they play against Slovakia whose pedigree is underlined by their lofty position in the rankings - 25th.  "The objective is to try and gain our first point in this competition," Ghedin told www.mfa.com.mt. "Slovakia are not the ideal team to face in these circumstances because they are very strong but, as always, the aim is to give our best by putting our faith in the seriousness and professionalism of our players,” Ghedin said. Meanwhile, with only four 'A' international games considered for the March edition, there are few changes in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking. South American heavyweights Argentina and Brazil remain in first and second respectively, while reigning FIFA World Cup champions Germany stay third.
