Two dubious goals, one in the opeining minutes and the second in added time, spoiled Malta's excellent and brave performance in yesterday's 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Qualifier against football giants Italy. A 4th minute goal, with a hint of an offside, scored by Mattia Destro and a glancing header by Federico Peluso scored in the 92nd minute from an unfairly whistled corner kick, were almost all the damage that the Italians could manage against gallant Malta. For long stretches throughout the game the boys in Red where tactically very well positioned and determined not to give away any spaces, witefender Luke Dimech and Andre Schembri distinguishing themselves amongst the best performers. Malta left the field of play with heads held high applauded by the circa 300 loud and colourful Maltese fans that stood behind our players throughout the 90 minutes.  More Photos on FANZONE Photogallery
