U*BET FA TROPHY REACHES SECOND ROUND AND BOV DIVISION II AND III LEAGUES GET UNDERWAY

The U*BET FA Trophy, which like last season has teams from the lower divisions of the national league and others from Gozo taking part, together with the top-tier sides, was off to a start, with the first round comprising 28 teams, being played between Wednesday 5 and Tuesday 11 September.


 

 

Eight teams from the Third Divison and six from Gozo have proceeded to the next stage of this competition. The teams are Sirens, Swieqi, Mtarfa, Senglea, Ta’ Xbiex, Marsaskala, Marsa, Qrendi, Kerċem, Nadur, Xagħra, SK Victoria W. Xewkija and Sannat. They will be joined by 26 other Division II and III teams, with the 20-match second round to be played between 19 and 21 October.

 

Meanwhile the BOV Second and Third Division Leagues will start on Friday 14 September with Gharghur facing San Ġwann at Luxol Ground. On Saturday there is a programme of six matches. St George’s v Fgura (Centenary Stadium)), Zurrieq v Msida (Centenary), St Patrick v Pembroke, Kirkop v Siġġiewi ( both Luxol), Żebbuġ v St Venera and Mellieħa v Mġarr (both Sirens Ground).

 

As usual some keen matches are anticipated and a good turnout is expected at the three venues
