The Malta women’s U-17 team concluded their UEFA Development tournament commitments on a great note after overcoming hosts Estonia 2-1 in their final outing on Friday.  Frank Schembri’s side will return to Malta with two victories from three matches but, more importantly, heartened by the performance of an improving side ahead of their European qualifiers in Slovenia where, among the teams, the Maltese girls will face Italy.  Eager to bounce back from their 4-0 defeat to Finland on Wednesday, Malta gained a foothold in the match from the early minutes. They created a host of chances with Maria Farrugia posing the biggest threat to the Estonians.  The Gozitan forward put Malta ahead on 25 minutes and 10 minutes later, Kirkop United's Demi Magrin doubled the lead. Schembri opted to make several substitutions for the second half but his girls remained in control. Estonia pulled one back five minutes from time but the Maltese girls held out for the win. MALTA LINE-UPLauren Sciberras, Chloe Ann Ellul (41 Nicole Sciberras), Valentina Rapa, Angelique Schembri, Maia Debono, Maria Farrugia (60 Michela Bonello Ghio), Amy Busuttil (41 Amber Brincat), Samantha Zarb (41 Celeste Grech) (64 Shakira Bugeja), Rohanne Zahra, Demi Magrin (41 Michela Felice), Nicole Zammit.
