Div. Two match abandoned after assault on referee

The BOV Second Division league match between St George’s and Siġġiewi, at the Sirens Stadium, was abandoned in the 35th minute after referee Sean Calleja was physically assaulted by a player. The score was 1-1. As per standard practice, the matter will be referred to the Malta FA’s disciplinary bodies. The Malta FA reiterates its zero-tolerance stance on any form of violence and physical abuse against match officials.
