Mifsud, Kristensen and Farrugia set to miss Lithuania duel

National coach Pietro Ghedin is expected to finalise his squad selection for Thursday's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Lithuania on Wednesday morning as a host of players are likely to miss out to due to injuries. Michael Mifsud, who went off at half-time during Valletta's 3-0 BOV Premier League win over Birkirkara, Hibernians midfielder Bjorn Kristensen and striker Jean Paul Farrugia, who plays for Swiss team FC Chiasso, are almost certain to sklp the match as they are nursing injuries. Balzan midfielder Ryan Fenech is also out of the Lithuania quaifier as he is suspended but will rejoin the squad for the Slovakia qualifier. The Malta squad trained at the National Stadium this evening. Malta face Lithuania in their final home qualifier at the National Stadium on Thursday (kick-off 8.45pm) before concluding their campaign with an away match against Slovakia on October 8.
