Malta Under-21 coach Silvio Vella has named a squad of 18 players for the UEFA U-21 Championship Group Six qualifier against Turkey at the Centenary Stadium on November 10 (kick-off 3pm). All the players in Vella’s selection are registered with BOV Premier League clubs except Myles Beerman, who is on the books for Scottish Premiership club Glasgow Rangers. Beerman and Valletta striker Kyrian Nwoko have also been included in the provisional Malta squad for the friendly match against Estonia at the National Stadium on November 12 but the duo will link up with the senior team after the U-21 qualifier against Turkey. The bulk of the players on Vella’s list will report for international duty on Sunday while those who play for Hibernians and Valletta, who will meet in a BOV Premier League match on Sunday, will join the squad the following day. The match against Turkey will be the first home outing for the Malta U-21 side in the 2019 UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign as the opening four matches, which have all resulted in defeats, were away. In their last match, played on October 10, Malta went down 3-0 to the strong Sweden team in Helsingborg. MALTA U-21 SQUADGOALKEEPERSJake Galea (Ħamrun Spartans); Philip Schranz (Birkirkara). DEFENDERSJean Borg (Valletta); James Baldacchino (Floriana); Karl Micallef (Ħamrun Spartans); Dunstan Vella (Hibernians); Kurt Zammit (Birkirkara). MIDFIELDERSMyles Beerman (Glasgow Rangers); Dexter Xuereb (Mosta); James Brincat (Tarxien Rainbows); Jake Grech (Birkirkara); Matthew Guillaumier (Birkirkara); Zachary Scerri (Gżira United); Juan Corbalan (Gżira United). FORWARDSJurgen Degabriele (Hibernians); Joseph Mbong (Hibernians); Kyrian Nwoko (Valletta); Zachary Brincat (Mosta).
