International Women’s FriendlyMALTA                                    4UNITED ARAB EMIRATES .  0  The Maltese women's team did the nation proud once more earlier on Sunday with a fine 4-0 win over the United Arab Emirates at the Centenary Stadium. It was the second friendly between the two countries in three days time. Malta also won the first friendly on Thursday with a 4-0 scoreline. UAE coach Houriya Hussain Taheri adopted different tactics compared to the first match as the team was clearly more defensive-minded today. Malta were clearly better side in the match, giving little or no space for their opponents to come anywhere near the goalpost. After merely two minutes, Shona Zammit broke the deadlock after converting Malta’s first goal-scoring opportunity. Rachel Cuschieri, who plays for Anderlecht in Belgium, fired a low shot to make the score 2-0 in the 27th minute. Malta struck a superb goal in the 33rd minute. A corner by Cuschieri was partially cleared by the UAE defence but Shona Zammit swooped on the loose ball to blast an unstoppable first-timer past UAE goalkeeper Noora Amlazrooei. Goal number four came from another Cuschieri corner in the 51st minute. The ball hit the post with Gabriella Zahra taking advantage and heading the ball into the net. Another fine display for the Maltese team against the Middle East side who are placed ahead of Malta in the FIFA rankings. MALTAAttard Jodie (Xuereb Maria 79), Zahra Gabriella, Parnis Kim (Zammit Mizzi Andrea Faye 72’), Farrugia Stephania, Theuma Dorianne, Cuschieri Rachel (Giusti Raina 65’), Zammit Shona, Flask Jade, Zammit Charlene (Xuereb Emma 46’), Vella Yasmeen (Debono Mandy 46’), Sultana Alishia (Jones Megan 46’) UAEAlmazrooei Noura, Almansoori Shamma, Amansoori Oshba, Abdelaziz Nehal, Juma Naeema, Rashid Salha, Almheiri Afra (Aal Baloshi Alreem 46’), Aladwan Nouf, Aladwan Alanoud, Alhammadi Areej (Aal Rabeea Amal 90’), Alhammadi Rawan Scorers: Shona Zammit 2’ 33’, Rachel Cuschieri 27’, Gabriella Zahra 51’(M). Referee: Graziella Pirriatore (ITA).
