The Malta FA recently organised the first over-35 one-day tournament for female players who have either ended their playing careers or are still actively playing with one of the local clubs in the BOV Women's League.  Three parents who have never played for a club were among the participants in this tournament, held at the Mtarfa Ground. While the main objective was to raise funds for Puttinu Cares Group, the tournament was also a unique opportunity for some of the participants to reunite after a long time away from the field.  Former player Marcia Zammit expressed her appreciation at being invited to take part in this first one-day over-35 tournament. “It was great to play football again after several years and meet many friends,” she said. “I would like to thank the Malta FA. I’m already looking forward to participating in future events.” Encouraged by the success of this event, the Malta FA Women’s Sector are already planning to hold another one next year.  Fgura United player Jackie Abdilla also took part in the tournament. “It is a nice initiative from the Malta FA as it brings a lot of friends together and allows us to keep in touch with the rest of the members of this sector,” Abdilla said. Zammit and Abdilla were joined by fellow women like Claire Ciantar Piccinino who had never been on a football pitch before. Ciantar Piccinino was not sure about taking part but after giving it a go, she had no regrets after thoroughly enjoying the atmosphere and the joy football gives to those who play it.
