Maurizio Vella claims BOV award for December

Floriana FC midfielder Maurizio Vella is the BOV Player of the Month for December Vella topped the voting with a total of 80.56 points to secure the award ahead of Gżira United forward Amadou Samb on 72.22 points. Hibernians midfielder Jackson Lima was third with 55.56 points. The Italian midfielder's pace and agility were a major factor in Floriana's 1-0 victory over Hibernians in BOV Super Cup on the 13th December.  Vella was also Floriana's most prominent player in their 2-0 defeat to Birkirkara. His dangerous shots brought some good saves from Birkirkara keeper Philip Schranz while also hitting the crossbar and seeing a free-kick going wide by a few inches. Alan Attard, Manager of Bank of Valletta’s branch in Floriana, presented the BOV Player of the Month trophy for December 2017 to Vella. The player chose Dar tal-Providenza to benefit from the donation associated with this award.
