Malta FA saddened by death of former referee Richard Casha

The Malta Football Association is saddened by the news of the death of former international referee Richard Casha who passed away on Thursday night, aged 87.  Casha began his refereeing career in 1954 and, eight years later, became the first Maltese referee to join the FIFA panel. Casha also served as UEFA Referee Observer and was a member of various Malta FA boards. At the 2013 MFA Awards, the Malta FA Refereeing Centre honoured Casha for his great contribution to Maltese football. His funeral takes place on Monday at the Santa Venera Parish Church. Mass starts at 8.30 a.m. The Maltese football community is also mourning the death of Godfrey Pecorella, a former Treasurer and Vice-President of the Youth FA, and member of various Malta FA Boards. He was 76. His funeral will be held on Monday at the San Ġwann Parish Church, starting at 8.30 a.m. The Malta Football Association conveys its profound condolences to the families of Richard Casha and Godfrey Pecorella during this difficult time.
