SLIEMA WANDERERS 1FLORIANA                    0 Matias Muchardi’s early goal proved enough for Sliema Wanderers to extend their winning start two matches after beating Old Firm rivals Floriana 1-0 at the National Stadium on Friday.  Younes Marzouk made his debut for the Blues, replacing the injured Mark Scerri. The game was only 16 minutes old when Sliema struck. They were quick to break on the counter with Jefferson de Assis advancing but his effort was deflected towards Muchardi who stroked the ball home from close in. Muchardi could have scored his second in the 33rd minute but his angled free-kick came off the crossbar. Late in the game, Jean Paul Farrugia, on as a substitute for Sliema, was also denied by the woodwork following another fast counter-attack. BOV player of the match: Matias Muchardi (Sliema Wanderers). ST ANDREWS             1TARXIEN RAINBOWS 5 Tarxien Rainbows produced a goal bonanza as they trounced St Andrews 5-1 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium on Friday. While the Rainbows collected their first three points, St Andrews came crashing back to earth after their opening 3-1 win over Mosta.  Daren Falzon marked his Rainbows’ debut by putting his new team ahead on 14 minutes. Receiving an assist by Michele Paolucci, Falzon poked the ball into an empty net.  Tarxien doubled their lead midway into the first half. Paolucci was again the provider as he passed to Gabriel Aquilina who hit a shot past Matthew Calleja Cremona.  Six minutes into the second half, Paolucci extended Tarxien’s lead after receiving from Alex Nilsson. Alex Satariano narrowed the deficit for St Andrews in the 63rd minute but Ricardinho restored Tarxien’s three-goal cushion. He converted a penalty in the 79th minute after being floored inside the area by Calleja Cremona.  In the dying stages, Tarxien added a fifth goal when Nilsson sent Ricardinho through and the latter concluded in style.BOV player of the match: Michele Paolucci (Tarxien). MOSTA BOUNCE BACKSENGLEA ATHLETIC        0MOSTA                               2 Mosta opened their account in the 2018/19 BOV Premier League after beating Senglea Athletic 2-0. Alessio De Cerchio opened the scoring after eight minutes with an audacious lob from the distance that caught goalkeeper Philip Schranz out of position. Mosta doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time.
