Mġarr United and Hibernians will cross swords in the match of the week in the third programme of this year's BOV Women's League at the Mġarr Ground tomorrow, Wednesday (kick-off 8.15pm).

These two teams have been involved in some absorbing contests over the past seasons and their first meeting of the 2018/2019 campaign promises to be another intriguing affair.

Primarily, what makes this fixture an important one is the fact that Mġarr (2-0-0) are heading into this contest as favourites following identical 6-0 wins over Fgura United and Kirkop United.

The Greens are currently sharing top spot with Birkirkara on six points.

Haley Bugeja has been prominent for Mġarr United in these early weeks of the season. The young forward has netted five goals in two senior outings and also inspired her U-19 team to an 8-0 victory over Mosta.

On the other hand, Hibernians have endured a poor start to the season as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Birkirkara in the opener before being held to a 2-2 draw by Raiders (Luxol), last week.

The Paolites will be looking to kickstart their season by winning this game against a potential title candidate.

Meanwhile, the Stripes (2-0-0) will be in action tonight (Tuesday) when they take on Mosta.

The defending champions secured a 2-0 win over Swieqi United last week to make it two out of two without conceding a goal.

Birkirkara will be aiming to extend their winning streak to stay on top.

For their part, Mosta (1-1-0) claimed their first win of the season against Fgura United (3-1) last week.

Elsewhere, Raiders will be keen to build on their positive start to the season as they take on Swieqi. Raiders have two points after straight draws while Swieqi are one point ahead after their opening-day win.

In the other game, bottom side Fgura face Kirkop United. Fgura are still without a point after their two outings while Kirkop have only one point to show following their 1-1 matchday one draw against Raiders.
