Malta U21 – two changes for second Albania friendly tonight

Malta Under21 Coach Silvio Vella announced his starting formation ahead of the second Albania U21 friendly on Monday at 1900h at the Loro Boriçi Stadium in Shkodër, a 17000 capacity stadium hosting tonights international friendly following Scotland’s UEFA Nations League triumphant win on Saturday, a 4-0 demolition over the home side. Following the 2-0 defeat in Durres first Albania U21 friendly, the Malta U21 players stayed focus as they are determined to wrap up this week of intensive training here in Albania on a positive note. Since the first friendly on Friday coach Silvio Vella had been mulling over his changes prior to this game on Monday night. Two in all as Ħamrun Spartans midfielder Bradley Schembri had to make way for Sliema Wanderers defensive midfielder Kurt Shaw who’s been picked to fill the holding midfield role, while St.Andrews winger Aidan Friggieri was selected on the right flank to replace Jan Busuttil of Pieta’ Hotspurs. The rest of the team from Friday was confirmed with keeper Andreas Vella in goal, Michele Sansone and Connor Zammit on the wings in defence, and Valletta duo of Jean Borg and Nick Pulis in a central defensive role. As mentioned Kurt Shaw will take up the role as a holding midfielder while skipper Matthew Guillaumier will be advanced in a more central role in the middle of the park alongside foreign based Jamie Zerafa. On the wings Myles Beerman on the left and as mentioned Friggieri on the right, with Mosta forward Zachary Brincat the sole striker with a plucky role to penetrate Albania’s solid defensive line. Malta U21 starting line up :- 1) Andreas Vella, 16) Michele Sansone, 3) Connor Zammit, 2) Jean Borg, 4) Nicholas Pulis, 5) Kurt Shaw, 6) Matthew Guillaumier, 7) Aidan Friggieri, 8) Jamie Zerafa, 9) Zachary Brincat, 11) Myles Beerman.On the bench :- Timmy Aquilina, David Xuereb, Bradley Schembri, Joseph Mario Vella, Andrea Borg, Jan Tanti, Zach Cassar, Zachary Grech, Jan Busuttil.
