Stripes out to extend perfect record when they face Kirkop

Leaders Birkirkara will be bidding to extend their perfect start to the season when they face Kirkop United on matchday seven of the 2018/19 BOV Women's League at the Mosta Ground, on Wednesday (kick-off: 8.15pm). The Stripes have won all six outings to set the early pace with a maximum 18 points, five ahead of Hibernians. Birkirkara are coming from a thumping 13-0 win over Fgura United and have scored 28 goals, conceding only one. On the other hand, Kirkop United have slipped into fifth place on seven points after back-to-back defeats marred their positive start to the season.  Last week, the Reds suffered a 1-0 victory against a solid Swieqi United side, with the latter overtaking them in the championship standings.  Meanwhile, Hibernians play on Tuesday when they meet Swieqi United at the Mosta Ground. After their slow start to the campaign, the Paolites look to have gained momentum and are now on the back of four straight wins. A victory over Swieqi United would narrow the gap on Birkirkara to just two points before the latter’s clash with Kirkop the following day. Swieqi United are fourth on eight points. Elsewhere, Mġarr United face Mosta with the Greens striving to win in order to keep Birkirkara and Hibernians in sight. Mġarr United are third on 12 points, having lost to both Stripes and the Paolites. The other encounter on Tuesday features Fgura and Raiders (Luxol). Fgura are bottom of the standings with one point while Raiders are sixth with six points.  PROGRAMME TUESDAY – 8.15pmHibernians vs Swieqi United, Mosta GroundMġarr United vs Mosta, Mġarr GroundFgura United vs Raiders (Luxol), Fgura Ground WEDNESDAY – 8.15pmKirkop United vs Birkirkara, Mosta Ground
