The Malta Under-19 team will face the youth side of Scottish club St Mirren in two friendly matches at the MFA Training Grounds in Ta’ Qali.  The first match takes place on Thursday (tomorrow) and the second one a week later (January 24), both games kicking off at 18.00. Malta Under-19 coach Winston Muscat, who is assisted by Charles Scerri, has selected a squad of 20 players for these friendlies which are part of the squad’s build-up for their commitments in the UEFA U-19 qualifying mini-tournament, to be held in Italy in November 2019. Italy, Slovakia and Cyprus are the other teams in Group 6. In the last UEFA U-19 Mini-Tournament, played at the Centenary Stadium in November, the Malta Under-19 team gave a very good account of themselves. They held Belgium to a 1-1 draw and came from behind to beat Lithuania 2-1, losing only to group winners France 1-0 in their opening match. There are some changes in the Malta Under-19 squad for the St Mirren friendlies as a host of players are currently having trials overseas. MALTA UNDER-19 SQUAD GOALKEEPERSAmara Sylla (Birkirkara); Ryan Vella (Hibernians). DEFENDERSJean Paul Attard (San Ġwann); Sheldon Mizzi (Pietà Hotspurs); Liam Mckay (Pietà Hotspurs); Andreas Vella (Hibernians); Ismael Borg (Lija Athletic); Matthew Portelli (Hibernians); Isaac Galea (Floriana); Christian Gauci (San Ġwann). MIDFIELDERSClyde Bouvet (Pietà Hotspurs); Shaun Dimech (Valletta); Bradley Sciberras (Floriana); Karl Mohnani (Melita); Jake Ghio (Pietà Hotspurs);  Sebastian Grech (Birkirkara); Jordan Kelly (St Andrews). STRIKERSRyan Tonna (Valletta); Paul Mbong (Birkirkara); Carlo Zammit Lonardelli (Birkirkara).
