The Malta Under-19 team on Thursday played against a St Mirren team comprising Under-19 and older players in the first of two friendly matches.  The match, switched from the Training Grounds to the Centenary Stadium due to the weather conditions, was a keenly-contested affair with St Mirren, whose first team play in the Scottish Premiership, emerging 3-1 winners. Birkirkara’s Paul Mbong scored Malta’s temporary equaliser on 63 minutes but St Mirren regained the lead a minute later. The Scottish team struck their third in stoppage time, catching Malta on the counter as Winston Muscat’s boys pressed for an equaliser. Muscat’s squad for Thursday’s first friendly featured a host of new players who have been promoted from the Under-17s while others were missing as they are having trials overseas. The second friendly is scheduled to take place next Thursday at 18.00. These matches are part of the Malta U-19 team's build-up for their commitments in the UEFA U-19 qualifying mini-tournament, to be held in Italy in November 2019. Italy, Slovakia and Cyprus are the other teams in Group 6. MALTA U-19 FORMATIONA. Sylla, S. Mizzi (65 J.P. Attard), A. Vella (77 I. Borg), L. McKay, C. Zammit Lonardelli (80 J. Kelly), S. Dimech, C.
