BOV Women's League

Defending champions Birkirkara will be eyeing their 11th straight win in the BOV Women's League when they face Raiders (Luxol) at the Mosta Ground on Tuesday (kick-off: 8.15pm).

Birkirkara are living up to their status as defending champions and title favourites as they have a perfect record after 10 games for a total of 30 points, six ahead of second-placed Mġarr United who are having a great season.

Last week, the Stripes sealed their place in the semi-finals of the Knock-Out competition after beating Swieqi United 3-0 to keep their double bid on track.

Ylenia Carabott found the net again for Birkirkara, led by Melania Bajada, with youngsters Kailey Willis and Veronique Mifsud adding the other goals in the KO win over Swieqi.

On the other side, Raiders have collected 10 points from their first 10 outings and are coming from a 7-2 defeat at the hands of Hibernians in the quarter-finals of the Women’s KO.

GREENS ON A HIGH

Mġarr, who eased past Mosta 5-0 in the final eight of the domestic cup, will take on Swieqi United as they seek another win to consolidate second place.

The Greens are on the back of a very important victory in the championship after overcoming Hibernians 2-0 to put some daylight between them and the Paolites.

Led by Patrick Curmi, the Greens will bank on the striking prowess of Haley Bugeja and the experience of Roxanne Micallef, Jasmine Vella Turner and Brenda Borg who all found the net against Mosta, last week.

Meanwhile, Hibernians face Fgura United in a repetition of the encounter played in the men's FA Trophy.

After the league defeat against Mġarr a fortnight ago, Hibs, under the guidance of Neil Zarb Cousin, made it into the semi-finals of the Women’s KO after beating Raiders 7-2. Hibs will face Mġarr United in the semis.

Elsewhere, Kirkop United meet Mosta on Wednesday.

The Reds have gained 13 points and are sitting in fourth place while the Blues are having a difficult season so far, having only managed to register five points in 10 outings.

Kirkop United are through to the semi-finals of the KO after beating Fgura United 4-1 in the quarter-finals.
