Matchday -1 for the Malta futsal team who on Tuesday trained at the Estrad Alingsås prior to their first 2020 FIFA Futsal World Cup Preliminary Group E match against Belgium on Wednesday afternoon.

The entire squad took part in an intensive session as they will strive to rise to the occasion regardless of this daunting task ahead against a Belgian side who are favourites to win this group and likely to be one of the two teams to qualify to the Main Round.

Malta futsal coach Vic Hermans conveyed his thoughts on the Belgium match following this only session leading to the first match on Wednesday, kicking off at 15.30.

“The players are really focused," Hermans said.

"We're not putting any pressure on the boys as this will be a hard game and when you apply more pressure, it can backfire.

“We will try to give our best tomorrow and give the players a lot of confidence as we know we will be facing a really strong Belgium side."

After the Belgium test on Wednesday, Malta take on hosts Sweden on Thursday evening before their last group match Saturday lunch time as Malta lock horns with Armenia at 13.30.
