The Malta Football Association is saddened by the news that former Malta player Żarenu Alamango has passed away. He was 83.

A one-club man after spending his entire senior career with Floriana FC, Alamango made one appearance for the national team – the 2-0 friendly defeat to the Italy C team on March 8, 1964 at the Empire Stadium.

Alamango was also part of the group of players called up by the late Joe Griffiths for Malta’s first official international match against Austria (2-3), played on 24th February, 1957.

At club level, Alamango spent 11 seasons with Floriana, winning three championships and a host of other honours.

The Malta FA extends its profound condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Żarenu Alamango during this difficult time.
