Bjorn Vassallo, the newly-elected President of the Malta Football Association, on Wednesday morning met Prime Minister Joseph Muscat at the Auberge De Castille.

The Prime Minister said the Government will be working with the Malta FA on the strategic plan aimed at strengthening Maltese football.

Dr Muscat stressed the need for a concerted effort to raise the level of Maltese football across the board and instil confidence that, as a nation, we can make significant progress in this sport.

For his part, Vassallo thanked the Prime Minister for his invitation. In reiterating his appreciation for the faith shown in him during the Association’s Annual General Meeting last Saturday, the Malta FA President promised to work hard to build a strong legacy in the development of Maltese football.

Vassallo and the Association’s top officials, namely Malta FA Vice-Presidents Dr Matthew Paris, Ludovico Micallef and Adrian Casha, and Treasurer Ivan Mizzi, also had a meeting with Clifton Grima, the Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Sport and Voluntary Organisations on Wednesday.

Dr Grima and the Malta FA delegation discussed matters of mutual interest and areas of collaboration.

Also on Wednesday, Vassallo met Adrian Delia, the Leader of the Opposition.
