Defender Steve Borg has stressed that Malta will go into Sunday’s EURO 2020 Group F qualifier against Romania fully aware that this will be another difficult challenge but with a firm intent to produce a strong performance. “We all know that the match away to Romania will be difficult but we have prepared well and we will be looking to make the most of it,” Borg told the pre-match press conference at the Ilie Oana Stadium ahead of Sunday's match, kicking off at 18.00. Borg is also keen to make amends for the 4-0 home defeat to Romania in June as he believes that Malta deserved more from that match. “The defeat to Romania in June... it’s true that we lost 4-0 but before they scored their opening goal, we had a great chance to take the lead,” the Valletta centre-half said. “In that game, I think that luck didn’t favour us. I remember well that we had a good number of clear scoring chances which we didn’t take. That was one of the international matches where I think we created most scoring opportunities. "We also made some mistakes at the back especially in the first half, but we improved in the second. “In every game, I am eager to play better than the previous one. I’m looking forward to this match and hopefully we will show our best qualities.”
