MALTA CLIMBS 3 PLACES IN FIFA COCA COLA WORLD RANKINGS TO END UP 10 PLACES HIGHER THAN AT END OF 2011

Following their 1-0 away victory over Liechtenstein in November,  Malta climbed 3 places to end the year 2012 in the 146th place in the Coca Cola FIFA World Rankings.   This is 10 places higher than at the end of the previous year and it is mainly owed to Malta’s excellent performances in friendly matches with four straight wins in 2012. These being against Liechtenstein at home (Feb), Luxembourg and San Marino away (Jun & Aug), and once again away against Liechtenstein (Nov). Malta’s next match will be a home international  friendly match against Northern Ireland which is scheduled for the 6th February 2013. Malta will be hoping to extend their winning streak to six in friendly matches before their March 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil qualifiers, which are away to Bulgaria on 22nd March and home to Italy on 26th March 2013.
