FIFA recently announced the three finalists of the FIFA Diversity Award 2019. Through their community-based projects, Fútbol Más Foundation (Chile, Ecuador, France, Haiti, Kenya, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru), PlayOnside (Thailand/Myanmar) and Watoto Wasoka (Uganda) have all championed diversity, fought discrimination and promoted integration through football. The Malta Football Association’s ‘All In - All For Football’ project was one of the six shortlisted candidates for the FIFA Diversity Award along with Halberg Foundation (New Zealand) and CAIS Association (Portugal). The ‘All In – All For Football’ project, which is co-ordinated by Peter Busuttil from the Association's Football Social Responsibility department, sees football clubs, NGOs and agencies, including AWAS, Appoġġ, LEAP and others come together to offer inclusion sessions, using football and football-related activities to integrate refugees, Maltese nationals and vulnerable people of all ages. “Now in its fourth year, the FIFA Diversity Award continues to be a platform to showcase, recognise and celebrate a wide range of organisations championing diversity and anti-discrimination through the power of football,” said Federico Addiechi, FIFA’s Head of Sustainability & Diversity. “We are proud to have such inspiring finalists to share their best practice and commitment in this area, and are delighted to support, honour and highlight the incredible work they are doing.” The winner of the 2019 award will be revealed at a special ceremony in Milan on Sunday, 22 September.
