UNDER-19 INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY Stade Communal, Mondercange – 19/09/2019 LUXEMBOURG 1MALTA               0 The second Under-19 friendly match between Luxembourg and Malta, played on Thursday at the Stade Communal in Mondercange, was a hard-fought affair with the hosts emerging 1-0 winners with a stoppage-time goal. The Malta U-19s had won Tuesday’s first friendly match thanks to Mattia Veselji’s penalty. Led by coach Winston Muscat, the Maltese youngsters held their own for long stretches but Luxembourg scored a last-gasp winner from a direct free-kick, taken by substitute Peter Remi Jonathans. Only a few minutes earlier, Luxembourg had been denied by Malta U-19 goalkeeper Christopher Farrugia who saved a penalty. These warm-up games are part of the Malta U-19 team’s preparations for their UEFA Under-19 Championship commitments. Between November 13 and 19, the Malta U-19 team will face hosts Italy, Cyprus and Slovakia in the Group 6 qualifiers. Earlier this month, the Malta U-19s played two friendly matches against Azerbaijan at the Malta FA Training Grounds. In the first encounter with Azerbaijan, the Maltese youngsters hit back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 while the second friendly ended goalless. STARTING FORMATIONSLUXEMBOURGTom Keup, Hugo Domingos, Stevan Popovic, Ian Santos Fialho, Edin Osmanovic, Tiago Semedo Monteiro, Lucas Correia, Hardahl Magnus Hansen, Dany Almeida Camilo, Yann Hoffmann, Tun Held. MALTAChristopher Farrugia, Andreas Vella, Glenn Attard, Christian Gauci, Jake Engerer, Bradley Sciberras, Jake Ghio, Alexander Satariano, Carlo Zammit Lonardelli, Karl Mohnani, Ryan Tonna.
